Origin

Absol is likely based off the Bai Ze from Chinese Mythology, which was a white beast with a horn on its head that was considered to be massively intelligent. It could understand human speech and had knowledge on over 11,000 different types of supernatural creatures. It could be based on the kutabe, a Japanese mythical creature that predicted a plague that would sweep through the Toyama prefecture in Japan. It is said to have an extra eye on its head which could be represented by the oval on its forehead.

Its name also seems to have numerous origins. It could come from the japanese term 物騒 (busso) that means dangerous. It could be a combination of the prefix ab- and the Latin word, sol which could be referencing a solar eclipse, which is commonly considered a sign of disaster in many culture. It might be short for absolute relating to its accuracy in telling disasters
