During the NES era, Nintendo placed a logo at the bottom left of their published titles that explained which genre the game was part of. This didn't last however, and only a few games did this. One of the series was the Action Series. The various series were mostly only present in the case of the early Nintendo games, which are usually known as the "Black Box" games. The Action Series contained some of the most popular Nintendo games such as Super Mario Bros., Balloon Fight and Ice Climber. Because this idea didn't last long, sequels to Super Mario Bros. did not sport the logo.
