First appearance Pokémon Gold and Silver
Designed by Game Freak

Aipom (JP) is a species of Pokémon in the series of the same name. It is a Normal Pokémon that made its first appearance in the second generation games Gold and Silver.

Physiology and Behaviour

Aipom appears as small purple monkeys that have a constant cheeky smile. It uses its hand at the end of its tail to grab branches of the trees it climbs. It even uses its tail so often that its real hands have become rather clumsy. Aipoms tend to be quite mischievous and also curious at the same time. Like real monkeys, Aipoms enjoy eating fruits such as bananas as proven by the Pokémon anime. They also have a sweet tooth as shown in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl where they enjoy eating honey. It is usually found on the tops of tall trees however they can be attracted by the scent of honey.

Main Pokémon games

Aipom made its debut appearance in Pokémon Gold and Silver along with Pokémon Crystal where it could be found by headbutting trees along forest paths. It wasn't a particular strong Pokémon however it did have a good movepool available. In Pokémon Emerald, it was found in some areas of the Safari Zone however these areas are only accessed after defeating the Elite Four. In Pokémon Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Aipom can only be obtainable by putting sweet honey on Honey trees where it would attract the Aipoms to come within some time. Aipom was found in the same method in Pokémon Platinum. Aipom will appear in the remakes of the games which it made its debut appearance in for Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. It will once again be obtained by headbutting various trees in this game.

Aipom made several cameo appearances such as in Pokémon Stadium where it appeared in the Eager Eevee minigame. In the minigame, Aipom was the one that lifted up the basket that contained fruits which the player controlling Eevee must get. Aipom was also available as a Shadow Pokémon in Pokémon Colosseum.
