In the anime

Dawn gained an Ambipom after trading Buizel for Ash's Aipom. She used it in various contests. It is pretty playful. It is also similar to anahuizotl, a creature of Aztec mythology with monkey hands and a fifth human hand on its tail.

Origin and inspiration

The origin of Ambipom is a monkey, with the exaggerated concept of a prehensile tail. It may be based on the squirrel monkey in its appearance.
