An unreleased Assist Trophy.

An Assist Trophy is an item found in the Wii video game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is similar to the Pokéball item, as when thrown, a character from a Nintendo video game will appear, and will usually have a positive effect for the user who threw it.

Assist Trophy Characters

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

  • Nintendog — The Nintendog was the first Assist Trophy character revealed. However, it is one of the few characters that aren't positive for either the tosser or his opponents, as the dog will block the screen.
  • Hammer Brother — This popular Koopa Troopa from the Mario series will toss hammers at your opponents.
  • Samurai Goroh — This famed F-Zero racer and Captain Falcon's rival will wield his sword and slash at your opponents.
  • Dr. Wright — Based on the game designer Will Wright and adviser in the SimCity series, he makes tall buildings pop up out of nowhere.
  • Knuckle Joe — A popular enemy/helper from Kirby Super Star, he attacks with powerful jabs and punches.
  • Andross — Based on his appearance in the SNES game Star Fox, he inhales, then blasts opponents with polygons.
  • Lyn — From Fire Emblem, the first Fire Emblem game to be released outside of Japan, Lyn appears taking a huge slash out of opponents.
  • Mr. Resetti — A mole from the Animal Crossing series who, just like in the games, gives long and boring lectures, which tend to block either the top half of the screen, or the player damage levels, and sometimes the dialogues interact with certain events in the battle. Like Nintendog, he isn't a positive effect for anyone.
  • Excitebike — In their pixelized forms, variously colored Excitebikers ride into opponents.
  • Lakitu and Spinies — Also in their pixelized forms, Lakitu flies across the stage, throwing Spinies down at opponents.
  • Little Mac — The main character of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Little Mac attacks with strong punches, and finishes off with his trademark uppercut.
  • Gray Fox — From Metal Gear Solid, Gray Fox attacks with swift sword strikes, and also deflects projectiles.
  • Saki Amamiya — From Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth, Saki attacks using his Sword Cannon, but shooting opponents and slashing them.
  • Stafy — From the Densetsu no Stafy series, Stafy attacks by spinning, but is one of the few Assist Trophies that can be attacked back.
  • Waluigi — From the Mario series, Waluigi stomps his opponents into the ground, then finishes off with either a powerful kick or by spinning his tennis racket.
  • Infantry and Tanks — A group of soldiers and tanks from the Nintendo Wars series attack but shooting down opponents; their appearances is based on Advance Wars sprites.
  • Jill — The main character of Drill Dozer, Jill drills into opponents.
  • Metroid — From the series of the same name, the Metroid latches onto opponents and sucks away their health.
  • Barbara the Bat — Will jam on her guitar, thus generating shockwaves that attack the players.
  • Isaac — The main character of the Golden Sun series, Isaac will use the synergy power "Move" to push players off the stage.
  • Helirin — From the Kururin series, this character acts as a temporary rotating platform.
  • Ray Mk III/Custom Robo — Will go around the screen shooting the summoner's opposition.
  • Shadow the Hedgehog — Will slow down time.
