As Avatar is the character that represents the player, they can be customized in many ways. Avatar's name, gender, appearance, and class can be chosen by the player.
Throughout the game, several characters offer the Avatar to change their appearance. If the Avatar chooses to take them up on their offer, then they will give the Avatar an item to wear on their head, such as a head band or give them a hair cut, and in some cases both. Later in the chapter, if the Avatar changed their appearance, then a character will ask the Avatar if they like their new appearance, and give them a choice to go back to their old style or use their new style.
Avatar has two sets of support conversations with each playable character, one for male Avatar, and one for female Avatar. For most characters, the sets each consist of three support conversations, but for some characters who are recruited later in the game there is only one support conversation for each set.
In general, the support conversations for each gender of Avatar are similar, however some take on slightly different themes, like Feena's. Some of the conversations also take on romantic themes, in which the other character is shown to have romantic feeling for Avatar, or the other way around. For male Avatar, those characters are Katarina, Norne, Catria, Maris, Malicia, and Athena. For female Avatar, those characters are Gordin, Horace, Warren, Wolf, and Jeorge.
