Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree is a video game for the Wii. It is a sequel to the 6 million seller hit, Big Brain Academy for the Nintendo DS. It was announced on September 14, 2006, during Japan's Wii event. The game features new puzzles and mini-games that the player will be able to solve. The main characters of the games are the customizable Miis that you are able to make on the Wii console. The European name for the game is plainly Big Brain Academy for Wii.

Gameplay[]

The game is geared toward people whom normally don't play video games, and for people of all ages. The game is controlled by using the Wii's remote, rather than using a stylus.

Activities[]

There are 15 activities in the game, divided into five categories: Visualize, Identify, Memorize, Compute, and Analyze. One activity from each category is used in the "Test" to find the size of your brain, similar in fashion to the test in the Nintendo DS original. Also like the original game, the activities can be played for fun in the "Practice" section.

The game gives guest miis that look like the normal miis if you erase miis in the mii channel or move them to the mii parade

Music[]

The main title (composed by Ryo Nagamatsu) is available with the CD Touch! Generations Soundtrack.

Reception[]

Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree received mostly positive reviews, scoring an average score of 72% on game-tracking website MobyGames. Gaming website IGN gave the game a score of 7.6 (out of 10), praising it for being "both easy to pick up and really fun to play, especially with friends", but criticizing it for being short and "shallow", and also for not including a proper online mode. GameSpot also scored the game positively, giving it a score of 7.3 out of 10. Conversely, they praised it for having a "decent number of different games and difficulties to choose from", and also for its use of Miis, while criticizing that many of the multiplayer modes require passing the controller around.

As of December 31, 2007, Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree has sold two million copies worldwide, with 380,000 of those copies being sold in Japan. It received a "Double Platinum" sales award from the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA), indicating sales of at least 600,000 copies in the United Kingdom.
