Bob-ombs are enemies in the Mario series. While most recognize Super Mario Bros. 2 as the enemy's first game, it was actually a Japanese game titled Doki Doki Panic. The game was later remade with Mario characters and titled Super Mario Bros. 2.

Like the Koopa Troopas, Bob-ombs can be used as projectiles once stomped on. Once you do, you will be able to pick him up and throw him at either a blocking wall or another enemy. Once you do, they will blow up and either kill the enemy or destroy the dirt wall.

The Bob-ombs' main enemy other than the Mario Bros. are the Bob-omb Buddies, with whom they are having war in the events that took place in Super Mario 64. The king of the Bob-ombs is King Bob-omb, who is much bigger, and has a crown and mustache, and even hands. In the Mario Kart series, Bob-ombs are used to throw at other racers and will explode.

Contents

Mario Kart seriesEdit

In the Mario Kart series, Bob-ombs have appeared as items in every game since Mario Kart: Double Dash‼ for the GameCube, in which the player could toss or drop them. After a player would pass by the bomb, it would explode, thus halting the player's progress for a short amount of time. In Double Dash!!, it was an item exclusive to Wario, Waluigi, King Boo and Petey Piranha, though it was available to all characters in the following games, which include Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii for the Nintendo DS and Wii. This item can deal damage to multiple players at once, whoever is in the blast radius.

If your racer hits it after it has already exploded, but before the orange fades away, then that racer will only spin out instead of being blasted into the air, therefore losing less time then the rest of the players that were caught in it.

Bob-omb VariantsEdit

Lethal Bob-ombEdit

Lethal Bomb-Ombs are found in Princess Peach's Castle of the past's sewers. On their first turn, they self-destruct with double the power of a normal Bob-omb.

Time-ombEdit

The Time-omb was first introduced in Super Mario Sunshine. Mario had to spray it with water to de-activate it. Their eyes are replaced with numbers counting down until they explode. They are thrown by the Monty Mole in the cannon in Pinna Park.

OthersEdit

  • Bob-omb Buddies: A friendly Bob-omb that allow Mario to use their cannons.
  • Shroob-omb: A giant purple Bob-omb made by the Shroobs.
  • Para-omb: A Bob-omb with a parachute.
