Brinstar is a location in the Metroid video game series, first appearing in Metroid for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and later making an appearance in Super Metroid and the original game's remake Metroid Zero Mission for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy Advance respectively. It's an underground area that used to be a base for the antagonistic Space Pirates. In the events that took place in Super Metroid, Brinstar and its planet (Zebes) was destroyed.

Description[]

Environment[]

The environment of Brinstar is unique and at the same time strange. In the upper portion of the area, you'll find plenty of flora, begging the question of how a forest the size of Brinstar grew this far underground. There are no forests in the lower portion, but rather you'll find red soil - possibly because of the fiery Norfair which is found directly below it.

Bosses[]

In the three games that Brinstar made an appearance in, three bosses were present. In the original game, there were no behemoths to fight, though in Super Metroid there would be two - the popular Kraid and the lesser known Spore Spawn, the latter being fought near the beginning of the game.

In the remake of Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission, Samus Aran would be required to fight the Brinstar Worm. When defeated Samus would be able to come in possession of the Charge Beam.

Super Smash Bros. series[]
