The Bulbmin is a rare enemy in Pikmin 2. If you defeat a wandering Bulbmin leader and have ninety nine or less Pikmin in your group, any Bulbmin trailing behind it will accompany your party throughout the dungeon. Although you can change their colors to other Pikmin types in Candypop Buds, Bulbmin themselves cannot leave the dungeon they are found in. Bulbmin are useful because they can resist fiery, watery, electrical, and poisonous hazards. They are in the Pikmin Family, instead of the Grub-dog family. If you count Bulbmin, Mushroom Pikmin and Pikmar as a type of pikmin, there are 10 types.
Bulbmin leaders can eat Pikmin pretty quickly once they spot them. The best way to defeat it is with punches from Captain Olimar or poundings from Purple Pikmin. Ultra-Bitter Spray is highly useful as usual with wandering enemies.
- The best place to find Bulbmin is the Submerged Castle. Four Bulbmin leaders wander throughout the dungeon, and are in fact key to obtaining the dungeon's treasures.
- In the Frontier Cavern, there are a pair of Bulbmin leaders on separate floors.
- There's a Bulbmin leader in the eighth sublevel of the Hole of Heroes.
Bulbmin in Challenge Mode
In arena number five, Green Hole, there are a pair of wandering Bulbmin leaders on the first floor.
In the arena Hidden Garden, no Pikmin are provided for you upon your entry- two Bulbmin drop down to join you instead.
"This loathsome creature is in fact a parasitic form of Pikmin that has infected a bulborb. Unlike Pikmin that nest in Pikmin Onions, this parasitic relative spends its life inside the body of a host, usually a bulborb. Juveniles fall in line and mimic the actions of their parent until maturing to full independence. By burying its rootlike limbs into the nervous system of the host bulborb and infusing it with natural hormonal excretions, the bulbmin is able to control virtually all of the host's bodily functions. However, the host's voracious appetite seems impossible to suppress."
"Grind the meat and season with allspice, salt, and ground white pepper. Press the seasoned meat into meat satchels, then panfry them with onions. Prior to serving, smother the brats with dijon mustard and sauerkraut. Buns are optional."
