Buzzy Beetle
Buzzy Beetle from New Super Mario Bros..
Series Mario series
First game Super Mario Bros.
Created by Shigeru Miyamoto

Buzzy Beetles first appeared in the game Super Mario Bros. for the NES. In the game, they could not be killed unless you had a starman, which you could then ram into it. Even though that's the only way to kill it, you can still jump on its head to make it go into his shell, where you can then kick it like you would a Koopa Shell. The Buzzy Beetles have appeared in most of the Mario Platformers.

It's most recent appearance is in New Super Mario Bros., where it will appear as it does in Super Mario Bros., but it will also hang from a ceiling, then when you get near it, it will drop down and spin in your direction.

[edit] Buzzy Beetle variants

[edit] Buster Beetle

The Buster Beetle is an enemy in Super Mario Bros. 3. The Buster Beetle is similar to the Buzzy Beetle. They live in places where its cold like Ice Land. They attack by running into their target or mainly throw ice blocks at you. They appear mainly in Ice Land. They can also be found in underground rooms found by pipes.

[edit] Spike Top

Spike Tops are enemies from the overly popular Mario series. They first appeared in the SNES video game Super Mario World, where they would crawl on undergound ceilings and walls. They are pretty much Buzzy Beetles with spikes on their head, which obviously indicates that Mario or Luigi can't jump on top of them, and spin jumps do no damage. They cannot be injured by fire attacks either making them one of the game's tougher enemies, and can only be defeated with the use of a shell, star, cape or Yoshi.

Spike Tops have appeared in every single Paper Mario video game to date, which includes Paper Mario (Nintendo 64), Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Gamecube), and Super Paper Mario (Wii). In the original Paper Mario Spike Tops had red shells, though in the other two games they had blue shells (interestingly the blue shelled Spike Tops from Paper Mario 2 had one extra HP than the red shelled Spike Tops from Paper Mario).

Spike Tops later appeared in Super Princess Peach and then in New Super Mario Bros. (both on the Nintendo DS), where they would perform the same attacks that they did in Super Mario World.

[edit] Parabuzzy

A Parabuzzy is a Buzzy Beetle with wings, similar to Paratroopas and Paragoombas.
