Captain Alph is a playable character in the Pikmin series. He was created by Shigeru Miyamoto for the game Pikmin 3 probably meant to replace the series protagonist Captain Olimar. For some odd reason his eyes, along with Captain Charlie and Captain Brittany's always stay open as oposed to Olimar's and Louie's eyes which only open when they're suprised. He in an engineer and his ship, the S.S. Drake was given to him by his grandfather. Alph is overall a positive and confident character.

Alph in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Alph appears as one of the three available captains along with Captain Charlie and Brittany. Alph gets stranded by himself and discovers the species Red Pikmin which aid him to find the other captain who he got seperated from.
Later he saves both Brittany and Charlie. Then they run into Louie who they mistake for Olimar, who took their cosmic key drive. They take Louie, save him from 2 bosses and Louie tells them where Olimar truly is. After they save him from the Plasm Wraith and grab the key, they leave safely. However, they leave Louie behind.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U

Alph appears as a costume swap for Captain Olimar in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS & Wii U. He is no different than Olimar, but he is the only costume swap that the announcer says his name instead of the original character (besides the Koopalings).
