Carnivine (マスキッパ, Muskippa) is a species of Pokémon in the series of the same name. It is a Grass type Pokémon that made its first appearance in the fourth generation games Diamond and Pearl.

In the anime

The only Carnivine to appear in the show was under the ownership of James. It first appeared at an old family mansion in Sinnoh and replaced Cacnea as his main battling Pokémon.

Origin and inspiration

The appearance is based on a venus flytrap. The name's origin is a combination of carnivore and vine.
