Daisuke Matsuoka is a composer working for Nintendo. Initially at Nintendo SPD, he has worked on several Nintendo 3DS games and applications, including Find Mii, Tomodachi Life and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, among other projects.
History[]
Daisuke Matsuoka joined Nintendo's sound group in 2009, at its SPD division. He attended and completed a university program prior to his work. His first game was Donkey Kong Country Returns released in 2010 for the Wii, and its successor Tropical Freeze in 2014 for the Wii U, both of which were first released on home consoles.
Matsuoka primarily worked on Nintendo 3DS titles, with many being small-to-medium-scale games and apps. He rearranged two soundtracks from the Find Mii II game in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. In a more large-scale approach, Matsuoka composed and arranged music for Metroid: Samus Returns, a 3DS remake of 1991's Metroid II: Return of Samus, released in 2017.
Returning to home console compositions, Matsuoka was involved with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, an expanded port of 2013's Super Mario 3D World, released for the Nintendo Switch in 2021. This was not only his first Mario game, but also his first fully-orchestrated work.
