Death Mountain Trail is a location in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. As its name implies, it is a pathway leading up Death Mountain. Goron City, Dodongo's Cavern and Death Mountain Crater can be accessed from here. It is entered through a gate in the north of Kakariko Village but the guard at the gate won't let Link climb the mountain until he receives written permission from Princess Zelda. If Link hasn't yet received the Hylian Shield by this point, the guard will point out that the wooden Deku Shield is impractical for use in a volcano and give Link a discount for a metal shield back at Hyrule Castle Town. At all times boulders from the mountain will come rolling down the pathway, and Tektites attack the player.
Death Mountain Trail was slightly redesigned for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for the Nintendo 3DS.
