Diddy Kong Racing DS is a remake of the classic 1999 Nintendo 64 game Diddy Kong Racing. It was released on the Nintendo DS in 2007 and, for the first time in the series (of two games), included wifi play.

Diddy Kong Racing DS's gameplay is similar to the original Diddy Kong Racing's gameplay, with added touch screen tasks.

- Dixie Kong and Tiny Kong have been added.
- Taj is now a playable character
- Each vehicle has a turbo effect that corresponds to an action on the touchscreen. The kart has a tire spin using the stylus, the hovercraft has a propeller spin using the stylus, and the plane has a propeller spin by blowing into the mic.
- A new "arcade" mode replaces the "tracks" mode on the original game.
- There is an unskippable cutscene at the start of adventure mode
- Diddy does not say "Diddy Kong Racing! Press start." on the title screen.
- The characters have new voices.
- Steering is performed either using the directional pad or the stylus, as the DS has no analog stick.
- The graphics have been updated.
- Banjo is omitted due to rights disputes with Rare.
- Wizpig(Scaled to avg. size) is now a playable character.
