The Ele-Conga was an electronic, drum-like device Nintendo released exclusively in Japan in 1970 for 9,800 yen. Famed Nintendo employee Gunpei Yokoi, perhaps best known for developing the Game Boy, created the Ele-Conga. Three different variations were released including a black, brown, and light brown instrument. Drumming on the Ele-Conga produced electronic sounds in a similar fashion to an electric guitar. The Ele-Conga Auto Player, an addition to the Ele-Conga that was sold separately, played music on its own.
