Advance Wars (JP) is a sub-series of the Nintendo Wars series. The Advance Wars series marked the debut of the Nintendo Wars franchise in North America and Europe with Advance Wars on the Game Boy Advance. The series would later make its way onto the Nintendo DS with Advance Wars: Dual Strike and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. A sequel to the original was made on the Game Boy Advance called Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. Every entry in the series is developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. Like the Nintendo Wars games, each entry is a tactical role playing game. Battalion Wars initially held the Advance Wars name, though was dropped prior to release.
There are a number of websites dedicated to the series, one of which is a fan-made wiki (not part of the Wikia community).
