The Boomerang is a recurring weapon in The Legend of Zelda series, having appeared in most titles since the first game. It is a bent stick, designed to return to its owner when thrown. In the earlier games that it appeared in, it would stun the enemy when it touched it, letting Link go up for close combat without having to worry about being attack by most enemies. In the 3-D Zelda games, you are able to aim it, and also attack multiple enemies or targets all at once. It allows Link to cut vines and ropes at a distance and grab items that are far away. The boomerang also can hit far away objects and enemies. It is considered a melee weapon in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Super Smash Bros. series[]

The move was part Link's and Young Link's side special, Boomerang Toss, in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

In Brawl, Toon Link's side special was this though significantly different than in Melee. It was much large and slower. This move carries over to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U.
