Donkey Kong breaking targets in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
The Break the Targets Bonus Round first appeared on Super Smash Bros. and reappeared in both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Along with the Board the Platforms and Race To The Finish, Break the Targets is a test a Smasher's skill with his/her character's agility, control, and certain performances of the moves of the character. In the Smash Bros. series if all of the starter and secret characters, something will happen. Like Board the Platforms, the player's best score, or time, will be recorded on the character's data.
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, it has been replaced by Target Blast.

Instead of individual levels for each character's Break the Target, there are 5 levels for the entire cast.
