MadWorld(JP) is a Wii video game developed by PlatinumGames and published Sega. It is a very violent bloodfest that was inevitably rated M for Mature by the ESRB. According to the game's director, Shigenori Nishikawa, stated that the game's visuals are inspired by Frank Miller's SinCity. The game featured unusually stylised graphics which used only solid black and white colours without any shading for the graphics and red for blood, which effectively meant the game contained just three colours.

Plot[]

The game focuses on the protagonist Jack Cayman, who was forced into a violent game show in which the goal is to simply stay alive. The reason for this is that a terroist organization has taken over the city in which Jack lives and have made all of its citizens fight each other. He'll take on various colossous villains and simple enemies in hopes for the grand prize of survival and $100,000,000.

Gameplay[]

The game is viewed from a third person perspective. The main character, Jack, wields a chainsaw for an arm, similar to Army of Darkness's Ash. Jack can perform attacks when the player swings with the Wii Remote. Besides using his chainsaw as a weapon, he can also use objects that he can find as well.

Trivia[]

  • MadWorld was featured on the cover of the 20th anniversary Nintendo Power.
  • The Japanese version of the game featured a black box cover instead of the usual white.
  • The game attracted controversy at the time of its launch due to its unprecedented levels of bloody violence. As a result, Sega had confirmed that the game wouldn't be released in Germany, who have their own separate gaming advisory body, USK, who generally have stricter judgements on video games.
