Cinnabar Island is a town and island in the Pokémon series located in the Kanto region and has appeared in the first, second, third, and fourth and seventh generation games. It is famous for its volcanoes. The Fire-type gym leader Blaine can be found here in the original games. In Pokémon Gold and Silver, the gym was relocated in Seafoam Islands.

Places of interest[]

There are numerous places that the player may visit in the island, two of them being needed for the player to advance the story.

Pokémon Mansion[]

The Pokémon Mansion is a dungeon that the player must explore in order to unlock the Cinnabar Gym. It is an abandoned and charred building, which got its name because of a famous Pokémon researcher who once lived there, though the reasons why he abandoned the mansion and why it's abandoned are never explained. Numerous burglars can be found throughout the mansion, along with a variety of Fire and Poison-Type Pokémon, owing to the decrepit state of the building.

The player must enter the mansion to find the key to the Cinnabar Gym. To advance through the mansion, the player must hit some switches found on some Mewtwo statues, in order to open and close doors that may block progress. The key can be found in the basement, where lots of scientists can be found, which say that the big space is ideal for a lab.

Along the mansion, the player can found books that contain journals and notes about the cloning of Mew and the origin and consequent disaster of Mewtwo.

The Pokémon Mansion was eventually destroyed by the volcano, along with everything else in the island.
