The Egg Roll attack being performed in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

The Egg Roll is an ability of Yoshi's that first appeared in the Nintendo GameCube video game Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is its side special so the move is After this, Yoshi would roll up in an egg and would then rapidly travel the stage, plowing into any of his opponents. The move later appeared in Mario Power Tennis and the sequel to Melee; Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii.

Usage[]

It is decent way to zone your opponent as he rolls pretty fast forcing the opponent to retreat or get hit. However, it is also easy to punish if dodged as the shell doesn't block hits.

Despite being an arguably fun move to carry out, it was also dangerous, certainly so on small stages seeing that Yoshi could oftentimes roll right over the edge, ultimately leading to Yoshi's death.

Customizations[]

With Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, there are two alternate forms of the move. They are

  • Heavy Egg Roll - A stronger but much slower version
  • Light Egg Roll - A music faster version that bounces the egg and frees him after he lands
