The Gale Boomerang is a weapon in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It is found in the Forest Temple, the first dungeon in the game. It houses the Great Fairy of Winds giving it the unique ability to generate whirlwinds. This will help Link solve particular puzzles in the game. If you spot a windmill of some sort, then Link will be able to toss the boomerang at it. The whirlwind will cause the windmill to spin, and the puzzle will be solved.

The Gale Boomerang later appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, as part of the Hero of Twilight's move set, replacing the Hero of Time's Boomerang from previous installments of the game. It acts the same way as it did in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, grabbing fighters in its whirlwind and spinning them in the air. It will also bring items back to the player.
