The different sizes of hearts.
Hearts in the Kid Icarus series are the currency used in Angel Land. They are dropped from enemies when they are defeated and can be found in locations such as Treasure Chambers. Shopkeepers and Black Marketeers will exchange them for useful goods in their respective stores.
Hearts appear in two different sizes, smaller ones and larger ones. The Big Hearts are worth ten smaller hearts. Moreover, sometimes big hearts appear in halves, so called Half Hearts, which are worth five small hearts. What kind of heart is dropped depends on what kind of enemy that is defeated, but all dropped hearts disappear shortly, and Pit must be quick to pick them up.
