Kokiri Forest [Edit] [Talk]

Kokiri Forest is a location in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Nestled deep within the Lost Woods, it is home to the child-like Kokiri people, and is also where the Great Deku Tree lives and rules.

The Kokiri Forest is the place where Link grew up and where the game begins. He leaves the forest to go on his quest, but comes back seven years later, at which time the forest is infested with monsters due to the Great Deku Tree's passing, and also because of the evil emanating from the Forest Temple. The Kokiri don't leave the forest at all because the Great Deku Tree told them that they would die if they did. Although, during the game's end credits, they are shown celebrating at Lon Lon Ranch along with everyone else after Ganondorf is eradicated.

The forest is home only to Kokiri and the Deku Tree, and no one comes even to visit. Kokiri fear outsiders, but no one knows how they keep everyone out. There are five houses and a shop, all are old and hollow tree stumps. There is a secret hole in the southern wall that leads to a small maze at the end of which contains a chest with the Kokiri Sword. There is a small stream running peacefully through the Kokiri Forest also, and that is probably where they get their water.

Theory[]

There is a theory that the Forest Haven in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker used to be the Kokiri Forest. There are a couple of reasons for this. The Great Deku Tree in this game is thought to be the sprout that appeared in Ocarina of Time, and it also where the Koroks reside.

The Kokiri Forest is also mentioned in The Wind Waker as the birthplace of Fado.
