The Final Smash (JP) is an attack that can be used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl , Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It is a "secret skill" that has different effects for its different users, but it can only be activated after obtaining a Smash Ball. Due to their activation, Final Smashes can effectively replace the Standard Special.
According to the game's director Masahiro Sakurai, Final Smashes were intended to be in the Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64. They had even recorded the voices that would be used in the attacks. However, like many things, it was taken out, probably for limits on the Nintendo 64's hardware.
Types[]
There are five basic types of Final Smash. These types vary depending on their range. Directional Final Smashes affect the area that is in front of their user, such as Mario's Mario Finale. Focused Final Smashes radiate outward from their user, such as Donkey Kong's Konga Beat. Trapping Final Smashes trap characters and deal lots of damage, but their range is limited. An example is Captain Falcon's, Blue Falcon. Stage-wide Final Smashes can hit the stage's entirety, depending on their user's choice. One example is Ness and Lucas's PK Starstorm in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Transformation Final Smashes give their user stronger forms, such as Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and Wolf O'Donnell's Landmaster in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4 and Bowser's Giga Bowser. Certain Final Smashes combine two or more types. Fox McCloud's Team Star Fox (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate), Wolf O'Donnell's Team Star Wolf (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate), Link's Triforce Slash, Incineroar's Max Malicious Moonsault, and Ren Amimaya's All-Out Attack combine the Directional and Trapping types.

Link | Ancient Bow and Arrow | Directional | Link fires the Ancient Arrow from his Bow. | Replaced his Triforce Slash. |
Samus Aran | Zero Laser | Directional | Samus fires the Zero Laser from her cannon. Just like in Super Smash Bros. 4, she will not transform into the Zero Suit form. | Can be angled. |
Yoshi | Yoshi Stampede | Directional/Trapping | Yoshi tackles forward, sending his opponent to a rocky plain. Then, hundreds of Yoshis stampede the character. This ends with Yoshi releasing them, sending them flying. | Referred to as Stampede! in the game. Replaced Super Dragon |
Kirby | Ultra Sword | Directional/Trapping | Kirby swings his Ultra Sword forward, slashing his foes repetitively.
Fox McCloud | Team Star Fox | Trapping/Directional | Fox summons his Arwing ahead of him, trapping his opponent in a cutscene that shows the Star Fox Team flying, as he tells his teammates to shoot his enemy at will ("Star Fox! Fire at will!"). | Replaced his old Final Smash, which used the Landmaster Tank. |
Pikachu | Volt Tackle | Transformation/Stage-wide | Pikachu surrounds his body in a blazing ball of electricity and charges around the arena, shouting, "Pika... CHUUUUU!" | Much harder to control than before, but Pikachu teleports to the centre during the finisher. |

Ness | PK Starstorm | Stage-wide | Ness and his old friends Paula Jones and Poo, where they unleash PK Starstorm together.
Jigglypuff | Puff Up | Focused | Jigglypuff puffs up to around 10 to 20 times her normal size, dealing damage and shouting, "Jigloo!" when she reaches maximum size.

King Bowser | Giga Bowser | Transformation | Bowser transforms into his powered-up form which debuted as a boss in Super Smash Bros. Melee. This gives him more devastating attacks to dish out on his foes. | If he dies in a stamina battle in this form, Bowser will revert back to his regular form with only one hit point rather than dying. |
Princess Zelda | Triforce of Wisdom | Focused/Trapping | Zelda uses the Triforce to trap her foes in a whirlwind. She then sends them flying after she deals a considerable amount of damage. | If their damage reaches 100% before she finishes up, Zelda's target automatically dies. Sheik | Sheikah Dance | Directional/Trapping | Sheik performs the Sheikah dance over their target, damaging them. | This replaces Sheik's Light Arrow. |
Ganondorf Dragmire | Beast Ganon | Directional | Ganondorf starts by crouching down. He then enters his beast form just one second later, and charges forward. | Ganondorf does not actually move according to the game's coding, which reveals his beast form to be an unreflectable, unabsorbable projectile that cannot be pocketed. A humanoid variation of Ganondorf's beast form appears as a boss in the game's adventure mode. |
Young Link | Triforce Slash | Directional/Trapping | Young Link rushes forward slashing his foes repeatedly with the power of the triforce and sending them flying with a powerful final slash. | This was Link's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4. |

He then returns with his teammates, shooting down the captive enemy. | Falco usually says, "Time for a little payback", but switches his quote to "We've got multiple bogeys inbound!" if he catches at least two targets. Replaced his old Final Smash, which had him summon his own Landmaster Tank. |
Prince Marth | Critical Hit | Directional/Trapping | Marth raises his Exalted Falchion and dashes forward, sending the first foe to cross him flying. This is his most powerful attack. | The "Directional" part comes from how much distance Marth can cover if he is not blocked by anything (e.g. deadfalls).
Critical Miss: If his dash takes him past the blast line, Marth DIES. |
