Duck Hunt is a stage that appears in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, based on the NES game Duck Hunt. It is set in the grassy field from that game. The stage keeps its appearance from the original game. It was released on the 3DS in the September 2015 update though having a few more generic features.

Unlock Requirements[]

In order to unlock the stage, the player must get at least 1 KO in Cruel Smash. Unlocking this stage also is one of the means to unlock the character, Duck Hunt.

Stage Features[]

The main platform is the dirt and grass. A bush on the right serves as a platform, and so do the leaves on the tree on the left. A patch of grass may pop up in front of the main field of grass, which due to the 2D effect on all fighters and items, will hide anything behind it. Ducks appear in the background, which can be hit, and added up to the score shown below. The ducks will sometimes drop items. The 8-bit dog will then appear to collect the fallen ducks or laugh (depending on if any ducks get hit or not) and act as a temporary platform. After 10 ducks either get knocked down or fly away, if the quota is met, the next round will begin. If all 10 ducks are knocked down a 'Perfect' sign will be displayed in the center of the stage just as in the original Duck Hunt. In 8-Player Smash, no ducks or dog appear at all.

During each round on this stage there are both sets of one duck and two ducks, combining both game A and game B of the original Duck Hunt.

Music[]

The italicized tracks are ones returning from a past game. Bold tracks must be unlocked.

Trivia[]

  • The Wii U version renders the characters in 2D and eliminates Star KOs. This isn't true for the 3DS version.
