Shemum is one of the most common enemies in the Kid Icarus series. They are snakes with wings, although they are never seen flying. They are also implied to have poisonous venom. It is in all three Kid Icarus games.

Like the Reaper and his Reapettes, Shemum are seen in every stage of the game. They usually appear in groups of four, and will slither toward Pit, regardless of his position. In fortresses, there are also jars that will endlessly re-spawn Shemums as long as Pit keeps killing them.

In the Game Boy sequel, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, there are monsters called Snakes, who look and act exactly like Shemum, except they do not have wings. Like in the previous game, they appear in groups of four and re-spawn endlessly out of jars.

Kid Icarus: Uprising[]

Shemum is one of the many enemies confirmed to return in the long-awaited third installment, Kid Icarus: Uprising. They are seen on the ground segments of the game, and look similar to their original depiction.

Kid Icarus: Uprising - Idol Description[]

"These winged, poisonous snakes leap out of vases to attack enemies, making up for their lack of strength with sheer numbers. These vases are invulnerable to ranged shots, so use melee strikes or attack items to destroy them."
