A Flying Man is one of the many fictional characters in the EarthBound series. It appears in both Mother and EarthBound, with minor roles in the storyline, in each game's Magicant. Flying Men are found inside a house, and they are five in total. If talked to, a Flying Man will join the protagonist's party until he is defeated, as long as no other Flying Man is already there. Once defeated, he will be buried at his home and will never be able to be revived.

Super Smash Bros.[]

The flying man appears on the Magicant stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS as a stage hazard which will help whoever touches him first with flying cross chops that do decent knockback and damage. The Flying Man can be defeated though another one will spawn soon after. In addition, a grave appears when they are defeated and there is a max of 5 of them per match similar to how they acted in the game.

Trophy Description[]

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS[]

(US version): The Flying Men are a team of five birdmen. Each time a Flying Man appears, he'll help the first person to reach him with Flying Cross Chops and Somersault Kicks. A small memorial stone will be erected for each one defeated. Once all five are gone, they're done fighting forever until the next battle.
(European version) The Flying Men are five brothers who seem to be some kind of bird people. They make great allies, smoothly combining majestic jumps with Flying Cross Chops and Somersault Kicks, and they'll each support whoever reaches them first. Sadly, once they're defeated, they'll be buried next to their homes, never to return.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U[]

The Flying Men from EarthBound are five kind brothers with a cruel fate. They live together in a house on the outskirts of Magicant. The brothers gladly join Ness on his journey, but if they fall in battle, they return home to be buried. In Smash Tour, they'll ally themselves with the first player to touch them.
