180px-Fortuna

Fortuna is a planet appearing in Star Fox, Star Fox 2, and Star Fox: Assault, containing lush but treacherous forests. The first time this planet appeared was in Star Fox where Andross enslaved the local flora and fauna to cause chaos on the planet. In the cancelled game Star Fox 2, Andross once again conquered the planet as a means to annihlate Corneria. The first appearance of Fortuna in the modern Star Fox storyline was in Star Fox: Assault when the Star Fox team chased Andrew Oikonny here and defeated him.

Role in Each Game[]

Star Fox SNES[]

Fortuna acts as the third level visited in the "hard" path in this game. It has four major sections, which involve a grassy plain, a lake or ocean or sea, and a brown plain. The fourth segment is a boss fight where the Monarch Dodora wakes up from his nap to attack Star Fox.

Star Fox: Assault[]

Fortuna acts as the first level, with the level being split into four segments. Fox and his friends battle Oikonny's forces during the first phase of the mission. During the second phase, Oikonny flees, so the team has to get to the surface and navigate the forests to block his escape. The third segment is Oikonny's boss battle, where he fights by transforming the Oikonny Army Flagship into an Andross mimic. After this, he gets shot down by an Aparoid Moth who acts as the main target in the fourth segment.

Star Fox Zero[]

Fortuna can be visited if Fox defeats Wolf O'Donnell in the level Rivals Arise during the Sector Beta chapter. The Monarch Dodora reprises his role as the boss.

Trivia[]

  • In Star Fox 64, the planet Fichina is incorrectly called Fortuna in the English version of the game. This mistake was corrected in the 3DS remake Star Fox 64 3D.
  • Fortuna is namd after the Roman goddess of good furtune.
