FountainofDreams

Fountain of Dreams in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

The Fountain of Dreams is a location in the Kirby series, first appearing in Kirby's Adventure. It is a sacred spring, located high above Dream Land, where all of Planet Pop Star's residents dreams are formed and flow out over the planet as a liquid mist. Inhaling the mist from the fountain guarantees good dreams and restful sleep. The fountain is powered by the magic of the Star Rod, located in the alter in the fountain's center. An ancient artifact of immense power, the Star Rod was created from a fragment of a fallen star.

Games[]

Kirby's Adventure and Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land[]

During the events of Kirby's Adventure, the Star Rod is removed from the fountain by King Dedede and broken into seven pieces, causing the people of Dream Land to lose the ability to dream. Keeping one piece for himself, Dedede gives the other six to his strongest minions. Without the ability to dream, the people of Dream Land become irritable and restless, and all joy and laughter soon disappeared from the land. Kirby arrives at the fountain to investigate and finds King Dedede taking a bath in the remaining magical water. Dedede tells Kirby that he is the one responsible for breaking "that old thing" and, suspecting that King Dedede is up to his old tricks, Kirby rushes off to track down the pieces of the Star Rod and repair it.

At the end of the game, Kirby defeats King Dedede and returns the repaired Star Rod to the fountain; only to find out that Dedede was actually trying to protect Dream Land from a being known as Nightmare, who had corrupted the fountain and was intending to use its power to attack the people of Dream Land through their dreams. Using the power of the Star Rod, Kirby is able to destroy Nightmare and return dreams to Dream Land.

Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra[]

In Kirby Super Star it's revealed that Pop Star's Fountain of Dreams isn't the only one in existence and additional fountains exist on planets nearby. One day, Planet Pop Star's sun and moon begin fighting, causing the days and nights to shift uncontrollably. The jester, Marx appears before Kirby and states that only the wish granting comet, Novacan calm the sun and moon. However, in order to summon it, Kirby must gather power from the seven different planets nearest to Pop Star by activating their individual Fountains of Dreams.

Super Smash Bros. series[]

In Super Smash Bros. Melee for the GameCube, Fountain of Dreams was a stage that the playable characters, one of which includes Kirby himself, could fight on.

Trophy Description[]

This mystical fountain in Dream Land uses the power of the Star Rod to create a gush of pleasant dreams that flow like water. The dreams then become a fine mist and drift over the land, bringing peaceful rest to one and all. It's been confirmed that there are identical facilities on other planets near Pop Star.
