Furfrou(JP) is a species of Pokémon in the series of the same name. It is Normal Pokémon introduced in the sixth generation games, Pokémon X and Y. Its fur can be trimmed into 9 different styles that change its appearance.

Physiology and Behavior

Furfrou is a dog-like Pokémon with a thick white fur coat that covers its body except for its face and paws. It has red roundish eyes with blue eyelids. It has a long triangular snout with a round blue nose at the end. It has two long rectangular black ears that go down the side of its head. It has several sharp teeth in its jaw.

Furfrou's coat cushions physical attacks, reducing the damage. It is known to be very loyal to its trainer. It's been said to have guarded the king of Ancient Kalos.

Origin and inspiration

Furfrou is inspired by the poodle though its untrimmed form seems to draw from Afghan Hounds. The way it gets its fur trimmed is similar to real world poodles.

Its name is a combination of fur and frou-frou (which means fancy or overly eleaborate).
