Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai is a game for Nintendo 3DS. It is based around the Vocaloids owned by Crypton Future Meda used in the Vocaloid singing software, a music synthesizing program full of characters, largely illustrated in an anime style, as personas, including Miku herself. There are no theories towards an English release. The player can dance and rock along with the chibi, Nendoroid-style Vocaloids to the songs. It is a spinoff of the Project Diva series.

The characters available in Project Mirai are Miku, Rin, Len, Meiko, Kaito, and Luka. Strangely, some characters from the Project Diva series such as Haku Yowane and Neru Akita were omitted.

Reception

In an issue of Nintendo Power, it stated that the 3DS rendition of the popular Project Diva franchise was "Oddly lifeless." However, the game has yet to localized to the West.

Despite being a lesser entry in the Hatsune Miku series, the game has sold very well, selling over 130,000 units in Japan.

In 2013, a sequel, Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2,  was released with all the original's selections of songs and more. The West finally received a game in the series with Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX in 2015
