The Legend of Kage<sup>(JPJapanese: 影の伝説

Romaji: Kage no Densetsu)</sup>is a 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System game that was later ported to the Virtual Console.

Plot

In ancient Japan, the player controls the character of a young ninja called Kage ("Shadow") in the rescue mission of Princess Kiri (Kirihime), kidnapped and held captive in a fortress (the Dragon King castle in some conversions) . Kage must first cross a forest with very tall trees and then climb to the top of the fortress. Armed with shuriken and a short sword, he has to face hordes of other ninjas and warriors. In order to win the game the princess must be saved twice (three in the NES version). Each time the princess is saved, the game's season setting changes.

Legacy

It later got a sequel on the Nintendo DS called The Legend of Kage 2.
