​Karate Joe (JP) ​is a character from, and is the first to appear in the Rhythm Heaven series, who is succeeding his father in karate.

Appearance[]

Karate Joe is characterized by his pale white skin, big nose and balding head. He wears a black belt karate suit that matches the color of his skin. He wears no shoes. He is often described as very expressive and fearless.

History[]

Rhythm Tengoku[]

In Rhythm Tengoku, Karate Joe appears in the first Rhythm Game, Karateka. In this game, Joe punches pots, rocks, lightbulbs, and bombs to build his flow gauge, which determines if he can punch hard objects such as rocks and bombs. If the player messes up, the flow gauge will deplete. In Karateka 2, He has to contend with the ever changing tempo.


Rhythm Heaven

In Rhythm Heaven (alternatively called Rhythm Heaven DS), he appears in the last Rhythm Game before the Staff Credits, Karate Man. Here, the flow gauge is gone, and Karate Joe can kick bombs and soccer balls by flicking on the touch screen. in the epilogue for Karate Man 2, one of The Dazzles is shown to admire him, calling him "hot stuff" and offering him a towel.



Rhythm Heaven Fever[]

In Rhythm Heaven Fever, Karate Joe once again appears in the last Rhythm Game before the credits, also called Karate Man. In this game, he can perform a combo by holding the A and B buttons. In Karate Man 2, he reaches "the height of mastery" in karate, after which he is seemingly able to control fire as seen in the Superb epilogue.



Rhythm Heaven Megamix[]

In Rhythm Heaven Megamix, he appears in four Rhythm Games, Megamix's own version of Karate Man, Karate Man Returns!, Karate Man Kicks!, and Karate Man Combos!, with only the first of the four being from Megamix. His father appears in Karate Man Senior, where Karate Joe gives commentary on his father's performance, the same way the Master does on Joe's Training.





Other Appearances[]

Karate Joe also appears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS as a trophy, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a spirit, and as a cameo in Young Cricket's trailer for WarioWare Gold.
