The Kid Icarus series is one of Nintendo's various different series that debuted on the NES/Famicom. Its star is none other than Pit, a guardian to Palutena. The series' initial video game was Kid Icarus for the NES. Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, the second and as of yet last game in the series, was released on the Game Boy years later. The main character would later go on to star as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii and even appear as a main character in the television show Captain N: The Game Master.

[edit] Future
It has been speculated that a third video game will be released for the Wii, with IGN heavily enforcing these rumors upon their fans. No confirmation has been released yet, and no actual proof has been seen. It's unclear if this was a project at once that was canned or if the game is in fact still in development. The latter is not only the ones that Nintendo fans hope for, though also seems the most likely with Pit appearing in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and becoming one of the most popular characters in the title.
