Kirby's Dream Land is the first title in the Kirby video game series that stars the pink protagonist Kirby. He possesses the ability to suck in enemies, though he is unable to copy their abilities as he is capable of doing in later titles. The game was released in 1992 for the Game Boy and was created by series mastermind Masahiro Sakurai, who went on to develop most of the games in the series and other titles such as Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64 and its two sequels released on GameCube and Wii.
The game was intended for people new to gaming, and thus playing its four levels is rather simple.
This game in its entirety, with the exception of Castle Lololo, is included in Kirby Super Star (Kirby's Fun Pack in PAL countries) as Spring Breeze.
Kirby's Dream Land is on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, Club Nintendo has this for 100 coins from January 11 to January 30.
Gameplay
In Kirby's Dream Land, you play as Kirby. Kirby in this game can inhale enemies and spit them out. Kirby can also jump on them to kill them. Swallowing the enemies give powers. Inhaling air can enable Kirby to fly after jumping.
Plot
The game, like all the others in the series, takes place in Dream Land. One night King Dedede and his minions ran down from the distant Mt. Dedede and stole all of the Dream Landers' food and their precious Sparkling Stars. After this occurred, the people became very hungry and dreaded the evil King Dedede for doing such a thing. One of the residents named Kirby, however, arose and saved the Sparkling Stars and the food that King Dedede stole from them.
