Klepto is a big vulture enemy who first appeared in Super Mario 64/Super Mario 64 DS. He appears as a single enemy in Shifting Sand Land and will try to steal Mario, Luigi, or Wario's hat with his sharp talons.

History[]

Super Mario 64/Super Mario 64 DS[]

Klepto first appears in Super Mario 64 as an enemy who will attempt to steal Mario's hat and he holds a Power Star. In order for Mario to obtain the Power Star, he will have to knock it out of Klepto's talons and obtain the Power Star.

Klepto appears again in Super Mario 64 DS in two other levels, the Sunshine Isles from the Rec Room and in Tiny-Huge Island where he is carrying a Silver Star as a giant Klepto. He will attack Yoshi even though he doesn't wear a cap, but attacks him still and steals his disguise if he does disguise as Mario, Luigi, or Wario.

Mario Golf series[]

Klepto appears in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Mario Golf: Advance Tour where in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour he appears in a desert stage and in Mario Golf: Advance Tour he is holding a Koopa in his talons in the Marion training grounds and the player must free the Koopa from the Klepto's talons.

Mario Pinball Land[]

Kleptos make yet another appearance in Mario Pinball Land where a group of four Kleptos can be found flying around the Shifting Sands worlds and if Mario defeats these enemies, he will gain a Star.

Mario Party series[]

Klepto makes his first Mario Party series appearance in Mario Party 4 on where he transports players to different spaces in the party board.

In Mario Party 5, Klepto this time appears in an orb and switches places with another player with another player's spot on whoever the player determines on the roulette. In the instruction booklet, his name is mistakenly spelled as Clepto.

In Mario Party 6, Klepto makes a cameo appearance in the minigame Pokey Punch-Out.

In Mario Party 8, Klepto makes his fourth Mario Party appearance and his most recent appearance in this game as a cameo in the minigame, Test for the Best on where he holds the 5000 points sign and whoever grabs it will gain 5000 points.

Trivia[]

  • Kleptos resemble the enemies from Donkey Kong Country called Neckies.
  • His name comes from Kleptomania, which is the inabilty to not steal things.
