Lantern Ghosts are enemies within the Mario series. They were introduced in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. They are ghosts who walk around with lanterns in their clutches. They look quite similar to Shy Guys and Duplighosts - Two enemies that also appear in a few of the Mario games.
These enemies can also be found in the underground levels in both Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and in Yoshi's Island DS. They also appear as fans as Toad Force V in Mario Party Advance in the basement of the Horror Condo in a club called TFV Fan Club. A notable species of Lantern Ghost called Big Lantern Ghost appeared in Paper Mario
