The Nintendo 64 is infamous for not having many role-playing games. The major reason for this is that Square and Enix both started making games exclusively for Sony's Playstation due to its CD format. Nevertheless, there were a few RPGs on the console, some that are today classics.

Hybrid Heaven is considered a role-playing game just because it uses Experience points, although it has nothing else in common with RPGs. On the other hand, games like Mega Man 64 are officially not labeled RPGs because they lack Experience points, although they have every other RPG element.
