This is a complete list of Pokémon which appear in the National Pokédex as of the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This list is the most complete numbered list appearing in the games, covering over 1,000 different species in roughly the order of their first appearance. Starting in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, they added new Pokémon in the mid-generation.

Pokémon can also be divided by the "generation" of games in which they were introduced. The first 151 Pokémon, introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue, have Kanto Pokédex numbers, which are the same as the first 151 National Pokédex numbers. Another 100 Pokémon appeared in Pokémon Gold and Silver to expand the list to 251 for the Johto Pokédex. The Hoenn Pokédex included 67 of these, alongside 135 new species that debuted in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, bringing the total to 386. Next, the fourth generation combined 81 or 100 of the 107 new creatures from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl with 70 or 110, respectively, of the previous ones to form the Sinnoh Pokédex. Those 493 were completely absent from the Unova Pokédex of Pokémon Black and White, which instead consists of 156 all-new creatures. The Kalos Pokédex adds 72 new creatures to a mix of 450 creatures in the region. The Alola Pokédex adds 88 new creatures (81 added in Pokémon Sun and Moon, 5 in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and 2 in Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!) while Galar and Hisui added 96 Pokémon (Pokémon Sword and Shield's base game added 81, the DLC included 8 and Pokémon Legends: Arceus add 7). Currently, Paldea introduced 105 Pokémon, with more Pokémon being added in the expansion pass of Scarlet and Violet.
