Link is the protagonist of the game. You initially take control of Link as a young boy in the Kokiri Forest, though after opening the door to the Temple of Time much later in the game, Rauru freezes Link for seven years until he is old enough to wield the Master Sword, which is the only sword capable of piercing Ganondorf's skin. It was purposely made to counter anyone who managed to take hold of the Triforce who also had evil intentions. Link is known as the Hero of Time in the game. He was prophesied to save Hyrule long before he was even born.
