Mallow is the first partner of Mario in the game Super Mario RPG for the SNES. He thinks he is a tadpole because Frogfucious raised him since he was little, although as the story unfolds it turns out he is the Prince of Nimbus Land, a land far above Mushroom Kingdom.
Mallow joins Mario when Croco steals Mallow's grandfather's coin. Mallow asks Mario for help in order to get it back. They follow Croco for a while and finally capture him and get the coin back, then Mallow decides to join Mario and they go through tough journeys fighting Belome, the Czar Dragon and even Smithy.
