Mankey(JP) is a species of Pokémon in the series of the same name. It is a Fighting Pokémon that made its first appearance in the first generation games Red and Blue.

Origin and inspiration

Mankey has inspirations in monkeys and boars. Its face resembles a pigs and its anger is a common feature with boars while it has a tail and athletic abilities similar to monkeys

Name

Mankey may be a combination of mad or man and monkey. It could also be a pun on cranky, referring to Mankey's easily upset personality.
