Masayuki Uemura was an engineer that worked for Nintendo. He joined the company in 1972 after having worked on Sharp Corporation, where he initially assisted Gunpei Yokoi with solar cell engineering for various of his toys.

Eventually he became the manager of Nintendo R&D2, where he was in charge of production of various hardware products such as the Famicom and the Super Famicom, as well as various games designed by R&D2 on Famicom and Satellaview.

He retired from Nintendo in 2004, although he remained as an advisor of the Research & Engineering Department. Ever since he has become a professor at the Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto
