Appearances
Main Pokémon games
Meowth was first seen in Pokémon Red and Blue and has been in almost every other Pokémon game since. It is a scratch cat Pokémon that is known for its high speed stat and the fact that is one of only two Pokémon to learn Pay Day (The other is Persian). It evolves into Persian at Level 28. It is known to be somewhat similar to other cat Pokémon such as Skitty and Glameow.
Other Pokémon games
Super Smash Bros. series
It is seen in the Super Smash Bros. series as a Poké Ball Pokémon that throws coins at the players.
Several different Meowth appeared over the Pokémon anime, but the most well-known Meowth featured in the show is a member of Team Rocket. He is unlike ordinary Meowth in that he can speak human language and walks on two legs instead of four. Alongside fellow Team Rocket members Jessie and James, he engages in various evil schemes, usually attempting to steal Ash Ketchum's Pikachu, but never succeeding.
Other Meowth that appeared in the anime include Meowzie, a female Meowth that Team Rocket's Meowth fell in love with during his days as a stray Pokémon in the streets of Hollywood, and "Meowth in Boots", a Meowth belonging to Tyson, a trainer from Hoenn.
Meowth withdraws its sharp claws into its paws to slinkily sneak about without making any incriminating footsteps. For some reason, this Pokémon loves shiny coins that glitter with light.
