Metal Mario is a character from the Mario series. Originally, he was just Mario wearing a Metal Cap, but eventually evolved into his own character.
Metal Mario's first appearance was in Super Mario 64. In this game, once Mario collected a Metal Mario Cap, his body would transform into a Metal Mario. While metal, Mario would be able to just walk into enemies and kill them. He could also walk at the bottom of the sea to collect certain items. his next game was Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee where he appeared as a boss character.
In Mario Golf, Metal Mario appeared as a playable character. His strength was more than any character's in the game, including Bowser's amazing strength. After Mario Golf, he went to play as the final boss in Dr. Mario 64 in Wario's mission.
In Super Mario 64 DS, Mario wasn't able to be Metal Mario, but instead, when Wario got a Special Flower, he would turn into Metal Wario, which is almost identical to Metal Mario. Also in Super Smash Bros. Melee, when you fight Metal Mario, Metal Luigi will also sometimes fight with him, making the match much harder.
