Monster Hunter Generations (Monster Hunter Generations in Japan) is a more action-driven spin-off of the Monster Hunter series based off Monster Hunter 4. In addition to the different weapon types, players can use different hunting styles to change up their gameplay as well as use Hunter Arts to help finish the job.

Hunting Styles

Each weapon gets 4 ways to use them, which have also have a select number of Hunter Art slots.

  • Guild - the traditional style from previous entries; can hold two hunter arts.
  • Striker - changes to a stronger but slower style; can hold three hunter arts.
  • Aerial - evading into any creature will let the hunter leap into the air and allow for more aerial combos at the cost of some grounded ones; can hold only one hunter art.
  • Adept - dodging at the last second will cause the hunter to leap great distances and be able to counter before the jump is done and blocking the split second before being hit allows the hunter to counterattack and string combos without delay, but several moves can only be started after blocking or evading; can hold only one hunter art.
