NHL 2003 is a sports game (focused on ice hockey) for the GameCube and the first game in the series for the console. It is licensed by the National Hockey League and its Player's Association.

Plot[]

The game is based on the 2002–2003 international ice hockey season.

Gameplay[]

The game supports up to 4 players simultaneously and uses 30 blocks on the GameCube Memory Card.

Short, medium and full length seasons can be played. Up to 10 seasons can be played in Franchise mode. Other modes include Playoff and International. Custom players can also be signed as Free Agents, but only to NHL teams.

Jim Hughson returns for the in-game play-by-play, and the game also contains hit music from Gob, Jimmy Eat World, Treble Charger, Papa Roach, and many more.

As in the real-world sport of hockey, the object is to score more goals than the opposing team to win the game.

All the NHL teams from that year appear in the game.
